Don't Call Me Tony

Hello,

    My name is Anthony Nelson. I'm originally from Miami, Florida but have lived all over. Most recently I spent 8 years in Los Angeles, but Legend has it that I spent some time in Okinawa, Japan. "Legend" is the term my family uses to describe the baby books my mom made for us children. It's a veritable account of our lives from day one to present. We keep sending pictures and updates and she just keeps on adding to the Legend of (insert first name) Nelson. You know that mom or dad who goes to some god-awful place - read: Disney World - with a baby in tow? That braves the elements - read: summer heat - for a child that's not even making memories yet? That's my mom.

    Her intense labor of love - schlepping 7 kids across some city, state, or country for the sole purpose of making memories - led to my love of travel. Not just the big trips. All trips. The prospect of discovering something new in an area that is completely foreign is pretty rad. Those places could be in my neighborhood or halfway around the world. 

I even had the opportunity to work as a travel writer for a bit

    Communicating online isn't something I think about often. I mean, yeah, I do it for work but in my personal life, I'm more of an MMS kinda guy. If my work does call for online communications I tend to stick to those I lurk i.e., Reddit and Instagram. I'm not sure why. Probably because I'm over 35 and they're the most familiar to me. I do recognize that times are a-changing and if I don't change with them I'll go the way of the dino so here I am. Working on it. 

    That's pretty much it. Anthony in a nutshell. I'm a travel-loving analog in a digital world with 6 brothers and sisters and an extremely sentimental mother. 

Oh, and I hate being called Tony.
